Grades are reported to component districts quarterly along with a final course grade for credit distribution. Through the integration of academics in each of our approved CTE programs, students enrolled in the two-year CADD program can earn CTE credit that will satisfy core academic requirements in composition and communication, integrated/specialized math and integrated/specialized science, leading to a Regents Diploma. Our curriculum is aligned to a nationally recognized assessment and has passed a rigorous review by representatives of industry, the community and component schools. Pre-Engineering & Drafting Design is an approved NYS Department of Education Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program.
During their senior year, students have the opportunity to get real world experience in a variety of professional settings. Internships are an important part of the curriculum for students enrolled in the Pre-Engineering & Drafting Design program. According to the United States Department of Labor, employment of drafters is projected to grow 7 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations. The median annual wage for drafters was $54,170 in May 2017. The median annual wage for industrial designers, provided further study, was $65,970 in May 2017.
